FROM MOSCOW TO BLAGOVESCHENSK AND FROM THE USA TO SINGAPORE: 167 VOCAL MUSIC GROPUS AND SOLOISTS WILL PERFORM ON THE “MOSCOW SPRING A CAPPELLA” CONTEST

The results of the qualifying round of the first Open International music contest of a cappella singing “Moscow spring a cappella” were summed up. According to the director of Moscow Department of trade and services Alexey Nemeriuk, the contest has revealed high interest both in Russia and abroad. From 247 applications of collectives and soloists, 147 were chosen for participation in the contest. 

 

“Despite being first time organized the contest “Moscow spring a cappella” has caused a high interest of singers and vocal music groups in Russia and in foreign countries. During three weeks from March 9 till march 31, we have received almost 250 applications and chose 167 of them. The artists from Russia, the Great Britain, Spain, Italy, the USA, Hungary, France, Poland, Singapore, Georgia, Latvia and Ukraine will take part in the contest”, Alexey Nemeriuk has shared.

 

147 groups and singers from 43 cities, towns and villages represent Russia. 

 

 

Most of the participants (78) are from Moscow. Saint Petersburg will be represented by 15 artists, Novosibirsk and Ekaterinburg – by four, Nizhny Novgorod and Belgorod – by three. Two artists will come from each of the following towns: Lipetsk, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Voronezh and the region, Rostow-on-Don and Khimki. In addition, there will be participants from Kazan, Ufa, Blagoveschensk, Astrakhan, Krasnodar, Simferopol, Tula, Taganrog, Penza, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, Petrozavodsk, Veliky Novgorod, Kursk, Krasnoyarsk, Dzerzhinsk, Tchaikovsky, Ivanovo, Likino-Dulevo, Krasnogorsk, Lytkarino, Orekhovo-Zuevo, Obninsk, Voskresensk, Mytischi, Ostashkovo, Lubertsy and Dor village from Shakhov district of Moscow region. 

 

Besides, 20 vocal groups from 11 foreign countries have passed the qualifying round. Mostly (four groups) will come to the “Moscow spring” from Great Britain and Spain. Two groups arrive from the USA, Italy and Hungary. France, Singapore, Poland, Georgia, Ukraine and Latvia will be represented by one music group.

 

Generally, more than 1300 vocalists are invited to the contest. Among the contestants small and medium (up to five and up to ten members correspondingly) prevail. However, big choirs will come to the contest as well. For example, the Choir of teachers of Moscow city consists of 30 members, the Choir of Sretensky monastery – 22 members, the Chamber choir of Belgorod Philharmonic – 21 members and the Chamber choir of state Philharmonic of Astrakhan – 17 members.  

 

Those, who have passed the qualification, will perform for Muscovites and tourists of Moscow from April 28 till May 7 during the festival “Moscow spring” and will have an opportunity to win the prize fun in amount of 17 mln rubles, provided by the sponsors (Russian banks). The participants of the contest will play Russian and foreign pop-compositions, jazz and folk songs in special arranging, classical compositions in a cappella genre.
